WHAT IS IT?
The Hearing Assistance Tax Credit (H.R. 1646 and S. 1019) will provide a $1,000.00 tax credit for two hearing aids ($500.00 for one) every 5 years. A tax credit means the amount is deducted from taxes owed versus a tax deduction which is applied to taxable income.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
The House bill covers adults 55 and over or those purchasing hearing aids for dependents (excluding anyone with an income of $200,000+ per year). The Senate bill covers all age groups.
